The Medical/Pediatric Unit is a thirty-two (32) bed acute care unit providing care to medical, pediatric, telemetry, and surgical patients. The ages range from pediatrics to geriatrics. Medical patients with an emphasis to return to normal function are appropriately discharged either home with home health or extended care facility, as needed. A multidisciplinary team is involved in cooperating and coordinating the quality care of the patients. Our mission is to promote the highest level of physical and psychosocial wellness through the care and education of individuals and families.
Our Nursing Staff work closely with a multidisciplinary team which includes Social Services, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Food Service, Pastoral Care, etc.
The majority of the RN\'s working on our unit are PALS (pediatric advanced life support) and ACLS (advanced cardiac life support)certified.
The Medical/Pediatric Unit has a very low rate of patient falls - in 2009 the fall rate on our unit was 1.2/1000 patient days, which is well below the National Average.
We are also well below the National Average for hospital acquired pressure ulcers - in 2009 the prevalence rate on our unit was 0.48%.
